Lucas practiced law at IBM and UMC and at several leading law firms. For decades, he split his time between Silicon Valley and the Greater China (China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan), advising clients in IC design and semiconductor manufacturing, computer and electronics, internet and e-commerce, and pharmaceutics and biotechnology. He led and participated in a variety of corporate and technology transactions, prosecuted U.S. patent applications, and participated in IP and antitrust litigation and settlement matters, often serving as the liaison between business executives and litigation and trial lawyers. Lucas is an independent director of Alpha and Omega Semiconductor and a consultant to Super Micro Computer. Early on, Lucas spent ten years in research and development at IBM, Union Carbide and an ROC arsenal.
