Morgan Conference Center in Palo Alto. Monte Jade West, in collaboration with J.P. Morgan Private Bank, brought together Asian and Asian American entrepreneurs and investors to discuss global investment trends amidst changing regulations and geographic tensions.
We were honored to have esteemed investors Frank Kung, Founder & Managing Partner of Vivo Capital LLC and former Board Member of Monte Jade West, and Brandon Wang, from the Corporate Strategy Group at Synopsys and current Board Member of Monte Jade West. Both shared their latest observations in the healthcare and semiconductor sectors. Additionally, J.P. Morgan Private Bank's experts Doreen Ge, CFA, Global Families Group Asia Team Lead, Julia Zhu, CFA, Asia Investment Specialist, and Christina Lee, Asia Banker, provided valuable insights on the topic.

Former Board Member of Monte Jade West Science & Technology Association Dr. Kung is a founding member and partner of Vivo Capital, LLC, a healthcare/biotechnology investment management firm in Palo Alto, California. Dr. Kung started his career in the biotech industry in 1979 when he joined Cetus Corporation. He co-founded Cetus Immune Corporation in 1981, which was acquired by its parent company Cetus in 1983. In the same year he co-founded Genelabs Technologies, Inc. where he served as the Chairman and CEO until 1995. During his tenure at Genelabs, he brought the company public in 1991 (NASDAQ: GNLB), built it to a 175 employee international biotech company with operations in the United States, Belgium, Singapore, Switzerland and Taiwan. Brandon Wang is a Vice President, Corporate Strategy Group, Office of the CEO at Synopsys. Brandon oversees corporate level technology roadmaps and strategies for growth, including global strategic and ecosystem partnerships, and M&A/investments for new horizons. He also heads the Chief Innovation Office, championing organic innovations and worldwide academic and research partnerships. Prior to joining Synopsys in 2018, Brandon served executive and senior roles at Cadence, ARM, Qualcomm, and Lattice in chief strategy office, product marketing, and R&D organizations for over two decades. Brandon currently serving as a board director for Efabless corporation, and a limited partner to Xpand, a venture arm of IMEC, and a limited partner to AIX Ventures, a Bay area Venture Capital themed on AI investments. He is currently a board director for Monte Jade West. He was also the former Chairman of the Board for CASPA and a Board of director for CIE-SF. An Electrical and Computer Engineer by training, Brandon holds 10 patents, and has published at 20+ IEEE conferences, in journal papers and invited. He also has an MBA degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a graduate from the Directors College of Stanford University.
Doreen Ge, CFA

Doreen Ge is a Managing Director and the Team Lead of the Global Families Group Asia Team at J.P. Morgan, with current total assets of US$20billion. Ms. Ge advises J.P. Morgan’s most sophisticated and multi-jurisdictional clients. Global Families Group Asia provides world-class services in multi-asset class investing, customized lending solutions, cross border wealth planning, fiduciary services, banking, and philanthropic advisory, for ultra-high-net-worth clients throughout Asia and the United States. Ms. Ge has over 15 years of experience in complex cross-border wealth management advisory. Prior to moving to San Francisco, Ms. Ge was a Managing Director at J.P. Morgan Hong Kong where she was instrumental in building J.P. Morgan’s China team from the ground up. Before joining J.P. Morgan in 2011, Doreen was an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management. Priorto her experiences in global wealth management, Ms. Ge was a financial journalist for TVB Hong Kong. Ms. Ge holds a CFA®designation and a TEP designation. She graduated from University of Southern California with an MBA in Finance. Ms. Ge holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree from Fudan University in China. Ms. Ge is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Shanghainese. Ms. Ge is also a wine enthusiast and collector. She holds the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Advanced Certificate qualification.
Julia Zhu, CFA Global Families Group, Asia Investment Specialist, J.P. Morgan Private Bank Julia Zhu is an investment specialist in the Global Families Group of J.P. Morgan Private Bank based in San Francisco, where she is responsible for multi-asset class investment advisory and execution for J.P. Morgan’s most sophisticated international and multi-jurisdictional clients. Before moving to San Francisco, she was a senior investment specialist in Hong Kong and New York, providing portfolio advisory and execution services to ultra-high net worth families in Asia Pacific Region. Prior to J.P. Morgan, she held positions at Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management and HSBC Private Bank. Julia holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Peking University in China and is a CFA Charter Holder.
Christina Lee Global Families Group Asia Banker, J.P. Morgan Private Bank Christina Lee is a Banker in the Global Families Group Asia Team at J.P. Morgan Private Bank based in San Francisco. The Global Families Group serves J.P. Morgan’s most sophisticated international and multi jurisdictional clients. Miss Lee advises clients who are predominantly based in Asia on a variety of matters including asset allocation and investment portfolio construction, capital and liquidity strategies, and wealth transfer opportunities and implementation. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Christina spent 9 years in private wealth management (PWM) sector, including Morgan Stanley SF and Credit Suisse HK. Ms. Lee has been dedicated in providing investment proposal and portfolio management to UHNW clients in Greater China region before relocating back to US. Now, Ms. Lee focuses on leveraging J.P. Morgan’s global platform and resources to prepare holistic plans for cross border wealth management and transfer between Asia and United States. Ms. Lee engaged in equity research analyst and covered Taiwan technology sector for 5 years before pivoting her career to PWM field. Christina holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she chose concentration in entrepreneur, finance, and accounting. Ms. Lee also holds a B.A. in Economics from National Taiwan University. Ms. Lee is a native Mandarin speaker and is fluent in English and Taiwanese dialect.
