Monte Jade Mentorship program held a wine social to learn some basics on wine tasting. We covered what to look for in wines – Varietal, integration, expressiveness, complexity, and connectedness. There was also some discussion on grapes and the impact of when they were harvested to the following characteristics – alcohol content, acidity, tannins, fruitiness, sweetness and dryness. Lastly we covered a unique region with in Italy – Piedmont, known for their Barolos and white truffles.
